We are about to embark on our annual CBM Internship Mission Trip! We wanted to send you the details/prayer requests. Thank you in advance for praying for us. We will be 13 hours ahead of y’all!
Our Team of 7 Interns: Robby Hester, Allen Matthews, Nicole Tolley CBM missionaries: Lincoln and Jamie Simmons, Luke and Tawny Austin (this couple is our “Mission Trip Coordinator” for all CBM trips)
Details of the mission Luke and Tawny spent a month in Japan for their missions internship during college at Davis years ago. They served with the Sadowitz family, and this is the connection. We will be serving with this same family. They are ABWE missionaries. They have not been able to run VBS for the community since pre-COVID! So we are VERY excited to be running this in partnership with and at their church. Our team will be running the entire VBS, from the Bible Lessons to the music to the crafts, games, memory verse, etc. Lincoln and Robby are teaching the Bible Lessons. Nicole and I are running crafts. Luke and Allen are doing games/sports. Tawny will be taking photos and videos, and using every opportunity to teach English. The Japanese people want to learn, and Tawny’s degree and specialty is TESL. VBS will be from about 9:00am-4:30pm each day. At the end of each day, we will have the opportunity to swim with the kids at a nearby pool. During the evenings, we have the opportunity to minister to local teens through “youth group” type events. We will share our testimonies, fellowship and interact with them, and praise the Lord through worship. Japan is in the 10-40 window and less than 2% of Japanese are Christians. Japanese are “born into” Buddhism and Shintoism and it is very difficult for them to abandon that belief system. Another obstacle is that they have little to no support system there once they convert to Christianity.
Prayer Requests 1. For God to begin to soften the hearts of those we will reach. For Him to reach into their hearts even now and recognize that there is a void. For there to be fertile ground. For many conversions to Christ. 2. For boldness and courage in our testimonies and witness while we are there. 3. For our team to be an encouragement to the Sadowitz family. 4. For unity, humility, and servants’ hearts to preside over our team throughout the trip. 5. For safety and good health for the team. 6. For minimal or even unnoticeable jet lag when arriving there and when arriving back in the U.S. 7. For no issues with customs, airports, flights, etc. 8. For Luke Austin, and Lincoln and Jamie Simmons as we drive the rented vans. The 3 of us obtained our IDP (International Driving Permits) and will be responsible for transport while there. 9. For God to work mightily and powerfully in the hearts of everyone on our team, and to transform the way our interns view world missions and God’s big world! 🙂
