December 2020 Update
In 2007 I was invited to Haiti to train national pastors in the Word of God. Soon, we realized the
need for an academic Bible training institution, so the Haiti Bible Institute was born in May 2009.
From the very beginning the plan was simple and single-focused: train national pastors so that they
can train other Haitian pastors. This plan is the missions model God gave us in 2 Timothy 2:2
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit
thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
In this verse God commands us to teach truth to faithful men who in turn would teach others that
same truth. This plan was finally accomplished in October 2020, the eleventh year of the Haiti Bible
Institute! Praise God for His faithfulness in honoring His Word!
The pandemic prevented us from traveling to Haiti to teach Module 6. So, we decided to use the
Graduate Students of the Haiti Bible Institute to teach the courses. In God’s providence, this was
the best thing that could have happened! The four men who taught the courses did an excellent job.
The courses were helpful to the students, and everyone was pleased with the results. Furthermore,
the teachers were greatly blessed by the experience. Here are their testimonies:
Being a student at HBI was a blessing. After several years studying the Bible with good Professors,
I learned Bible truth as well as my responsibility to teach faithful man so they can teach others also.
This has become a dream for me, I began to teach in other Bible schools that I and other graduates
from HBI started. Now in Module 6 for HBI, I had the opportunity to serve in the very school where
I first learned. It was like a home-coming, and it was the proof that I was equipped to serve the
Lord in this way. I pray for the long life of my alma mater, HBI, where I earned my diploma. I pray
God will preserve HBI and help it survive during the troubles coming upon the world. Thank you
to Doc Bearss and the Professors who honor me by letting me teach the students in this difficult
time when the Professors could not come in Haiti. — Grace and Peace, Mackenson Picot, Teacher
The Goal of the Haiti Bible Institute is to teach faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
During Module 6, I saw the accomplishment of this goal. It was the first time graduates of the Haiti
Bible Institute had the opportunity to use their knowledge received from the institute to teach
students at HBI. This made my joy complete. Our professors were not able to come to teach the
module because the Covid prevented them. But the virus did not stop the teaching of God’s word!
Hallelujah! By teaching the Class, I realize my full potential in teaching. My thanks to Doc Bearss
who gave us the opportunity to use our teaching gift for the well-being of the school and for the
glory of God. Some students have testified, “that was one of the best modules ever, because we
fully understood the class.” This is because the teaching was presented in their own language.
Thanks to the Haiti Bible Institute for everything. — Spencer Bazile, Teacher
Thank you, Doctor Bearss for choosing me as Teacher of Module 6. I especially enjoyed teaching
“The Epistles of John.” Frankly, in preparing and teaching this course, I learned a lot of new things.
It was truly a beautiful experience. I congratulate the whole team of the Institut Biblique D’Haiti.
Grace and peace of God to you! Teaching the Word of God to believers is a great privilege that
God gives me. As a result, after having received several years of training at the Haiti Bible Institute,
I have become a much more useful person in the service of God. I am very grateful to all the teachers
of the Institut Biblique D’Haiti who taught me. Thanks to their work, I strongly was able to
contribute to the spiritual formation of other people. I am always available to the Institut Biblique
D’Haiti. — Grace and peace of God to you! Meme Elicene, Teacher
Teaching at HBI was one of my
aspirations as soon as I enrolled the
Master’s program. I said to myself, “If
foreigners can come and transmit the
knowledge of the Word of God in Haiti,
how much more that it is judicious for
me to do it in my own country as a
Haitian living in Haiti.” This explains
my enthusiasm and my passion to give
my full contribution to the success of
Module 6. I am both happy and proud to
have seasoned Professors at HBI who
did an excellent job teaching truth to me.
They equipped the students to do all
good works, which in turn allowed me to
pass on well the Bible truths that I
learned. I also believe that it is a great
opportunity for HBI to have Haitians at
the faculty level. I fully believe that it
was a rewarding experience for us teachers and also for the students since there was no language
barrier between us. I can say that not only is it an experience to be redone, but also it opens a new
horizon for HBI and gives great hope for its perpetuation. I thank God, the staff of HBI, the
professors, as well as all the students. — Franklin Robert, Teacher
Module 7 in Haiti is February 10-17, 2021. Haiti has opened for travel and the professors are ready
to teach the students of Cohort 3. Module 8 will be in October 2021 followed by Graduation! We
need $20,000 to pay for Module 6. So far, $4,900 has been given. Praise God! Your faithful giving
has sustained HBI for eleven years, Thank you! As you can see from this letter, your investment
has reaped a great reward. The future is bright as we pursue excellence in training Haitian pastors.
